Alternative pathways for glucose-6 phosphate leads to lactic acidosis, hyperuricemia, and hyperlipidemia: In glycogen storage disease type 1a, there is deficient glucose-6-phosphatase, which results in the shunting of the substrate glucose-6-phosphate away from glucose, into alternative pathways.
