From: Delayed recognition of pediatric calcaneal osteomyelitis: a case report

Soft tissue swelling and tenderness is noted to the calcaneum. Modified technique has been applied. The calcaneal apophysis appears sclerosed and fragmented, but this can be a normal appearance in the developing calcaneum. There is suggestion of some widening of the talocalcaneal joint medially which may correlate with appearances noted at the subtalar joints on the ankle projections
