(C) The GMS stain demonstrates yeast forms with marked size variation and budding and narrow-based budding, typical features of Cryptococcus. (D) The outer wall of the fungi stain positive with the mucicarmine stain and the organisms (black arrows) are surrounded by a clear capsule.
