Typical causes of thrombocytosis

• Chronic myeloproliferative disorders such as CML, PV, ET

• Certain myelodysplastic syndromes such as 5q-syndrome

• Underlying or occult malignancy

• Chronic inflammatory or infectious disease

• Asplenia

• Drug induced (for example, Vincristine, ATRA, cytokines, growth factors)

• Secondary after hemolytic crisis or hemorrhage

• Iron deficiency
